The Activity Calendar
The PEO Extra Mural Activity Programs
are designed with the general life demands in mind. We aim to equip candidates with skills that help them cope in today’s demanding life expectations, and assist in getting them ready to tackle their tomorrow a little easier.
Candidates are allowed to participate in up to Five (5) activities per month. They will have the responsibility to ensure that their selected programs do not have time clashes as per the PEO Calendar.
Please Note:
Parents are encouraged to select and send PEO their most preferred programs from the activities listed, by no later than 15th December 2021, so as for PEO to have an understanding which programs would mostly be preferred.
The calendar allocation will be finalised once the input date (15th December 2021) closes. The Activities scheduled for the year 2022 include among others the following:

1071 | Mental Health Awareness | TBA: Expert in the field | Affording candidates, the opportunity to understand their mental status and that of others. To become a beckon of hope to others so as to not lose power in themselves and in fellow human. |
1044 | Gardening | TBA: Expert in Farming | This program instils in our candidate the value of learning to grow our own food. Making sure we know where food come from and eat as fresh and as healthy as possible. Growing our own produce is also a way of making sure we don’t spend too much to feed ourself |
1076 | Cooking & Baking: Simple, fun, health & yummy treats!! | Various Service Providers: The Bread Box Chef D of MPL | Candidates are exposed to simple, quick, fun but healthy cooking. Interesting cooking and baking recipes are taught. PLEASE NOTE: This is one of the programs where parental participation is mandatory. |
1063 | Family Workout Body Yoga Nova Zumba Dance Strength Training | Various Fitness instructors Different instructors for different activities | Allowing the body to move and stretch is very important especially under the amount of tress young people go through. This is a fun-filled way of destressing. This program is likely to take place in the afternoon after school sessions so as allow candidates an opportunity to shake-off some school “stresses” |
2019 | Other Sport: Soccer / Tennis Technique & Karate Moves | Various Sporting coaches | The session shares techniques and skills on how best to participate in these sporting codes and minimize / avoid injuries |
2122 | Hand Writing | TBA: Expert in the field | Hand writing is said to be a “display” of one’s state of mind. It is also said to be an enabler of active thinking. Having good writing skill not only pushes for clear thoughts but it also ensures full comprehension of what one is learning The focus is on Cursive hand writing |

2137 | Home Chores: Open discussion | Cleaning Service Providers: i.e. The Opis Group | Making home chores fun and practical. This will include among others ironing, washing dishes, making bed, packing our cupboards (Kitchen & Bedroom) |
2194 | Reading club: Book of the month | Various authors / book analysts | Different, age-appropriate books are selected on a monthly basis. They are then discussed in one sitting. This program aims to ignite the liking for reading. |
2237 | My Pet-care | TBA | Empowering young pet-owners with the skills to take care of their pets and not make them their parents’ responsibility. Lessons to also learn before getting a pet. |
2218 | Debating / Public Speaking | Learn Smarter | Public speaking does not come natural to many people, but being confident and knowing how to speak to an audience is a skill that can take one far in life. Empowering candidates from a younger age to become confident speakers. |
2207 | Road Use: Pedestrian, Passenger, Driver | Qualified instructor: Sue Peebles | Pedestrian behaviour on our roads has led to many unnecessary accidents and deaths. The bulk of this behaviour stem from lack of knowledge. In vehicle behaviour of both passengers and drivers can cause unnecessary accidents too. Having knowledgeable young people can create some level of “supervision” and improved behaviour, and safe lives. |
2292 | My Driver Learner’s Lessons | Qualified Instructor: Sue Peebles | It has been requested (by broader society) that Driver Learner’ Lessons be part of the Basic Education offerings. This is one skill (ultimately driving) almost everyone has to have. It creates road use awareness at an early age. The program is not only limited to passing one’s learner’s test. |

Those with strong Entrepreneurial character should be encouraged and be supported from a younger age too. With that comes understanding the stakeholder in the space and their contribution in building a good business. |

2307 | Behaviour & Conduct: Etiquette Self-branding Respect | Learn Smart Education | Personal branding and understanding the transition from school environment, to tertiary and ultimately employment. Poor communication and conduct may stand on the way when it comes to career advancement. This program seeks to caution young people of some of these factors |
2348 | The World of work: What being employed / running a business entail | Coach Mashudu: N-Abler Solutions | Bringing young people to have a better understanding of parents’ responsibilities at home as well as at work or business pressure they (parents) may be facing on a daily basis. Guiding young people in being responsible children and not adding more pressure unnecessarily. Rather try to relieve them (parents) of their pressures where possible. |
2318 | Friends & relationships: Choosing Friends / Letting go of toxic relationships | Coach Mashudu: N-Abler Solutions | Peer Pressure remains a reality in the lives of young people. This can persist up to adulthood unless effectively addressed earlier in their young lives. This program aims to enlighten young people in identifying and selecting friends that are right for themselves. It also seeks to affirm then as individuals so as to still be comfortable to be on their own, until they find suitable friends. Never to rush due to peer pressure. |
2383 | Body Parts Care: Teeth / Hair / Nails / Skin Ears / Other Body part | TBA: Dentist ENT Beauty therapist | General hygiene or self-care is important especially as young people start to grow older and experience body changes. This program is however very general-focused and prepares young people to be hygiene conscious. |
